There are some places where any contamination can bring severe problems to those who are working or staying there. Clean room flooring is used in just such a situation to stop contaminants from entering the area on shoes or feet. The product used here is Dycem which actually cleans the dirt off shoes and wheels as they traverse this 'corridor' before entering the closed environment where contamination is not wanted. However, this is not the only barrier method that is used to keep any particles out.

The covering has a very soft surface which pokes up into the ridges on shoes and wheels. Because it has a slight sticky property, anything that is on these surfaces will be pulled off. It is imperative therefore that this walkway is long enough for the covering to do its work. This covering will actually make the following room ten thousand times cleaner than a hospital operating theater so it just goes to show how effective it can be.

Built into this kind of covering are anti bacterial qualities, backed up by silver based anti microbial elements, which covers a very broad spectrum to eliminate all kinds of unmentionable bugs and diseases. It is when this cover looks dirty between washing that it shows that it is doing exactly what it is meant to do. It is the stickiness of the covering which really makes it an effective barrier to all those contaminants which want to enter the place via floor level and through doorways which are often the weakest points.

It is not only hospitals which need this kind of covering either. Factories which produce computer chips or silicone based products have to be scrupulous about contaminants, much more important than operating theaters in fact. It needs an unpolluted atmosphere if the product is to be produced with no flaws and no contamination on its surfaces.

Of course, hospitals will also have to have something similar since sick patients are really prime targets for germs and pollutants. Since they are already in ill health, having bugs which can bring them down further is highly dangerous. Disease is obviously the biggest killer of man but to get something while in hospital is unforgivable.

Even food preparation rooms also have to have something similar since no one would want to be made sick from eating something which has a contaminant. The way that litigation is going these days, someone suing for illness can bring a food company to its knees so it is much better to be safe than sorry.

Although this kind of covering is the first line of defense against contamination, users still have to check that it is working at its optimum level. They usually put all results on a graph so that they have visual evidence of what is going on and where. This also allows the user to advise the manufacturer if the product is living up to expectations too. In this way, the product will keep getting better and we can all live in a cleaner environment for sure.
