There are many times when critters invade our personal space and this can have some rather bad effects if they are not sorted out in a timely fashion. For example, cherished wooden objects can just be eaten from within, or even roof beams can be weakened to the point where a house becomes rather dangerous. Of course, pest control companies have the necessary chemicals and knowledge to keep these creatures away so finding a good contractor is vital. Just look for 'termite control' on the internet to see how many companies provide this valuable service.
Some of the first signs that these little guys are making a stronghold in the house are dust like droppings. They want to burrow into wood so that they can eat away at the cellulose. Since their bodies need to be kept moist at all times, it is imperative that they work in tunnels or tubes. When they reach a spot which is not edible, and this could be a wall or a metal casing, they merely build a tunnel from earth or sawdust so that they can traverse this obstacle at will. Skirting boards and door frames are ideal places that these creatures like to invade. Not only is the wood in plentiful supply, they can go all over a room in a matter of days. On the way around the room they may also take in some old furniture too so these should be inspected regularly.
What the experts do is to try to stop them from entering a building by putting a chemical barrier between the critters and their source of food. In new buildings, the foundations are usually drilled and filled with chemicals which can last up to ten years. This keeps the creatures out for this length of time but, inevitably, there will be a need to repeat the process. Instead of drilling the foundations, there is another approach and that is by digging a deep trench all around the home. This has to be deep enough to go beyond their tunnels so it can be quite disruptive for sure. However, once the chemicals are poured in, the creatures will not cross that line.
The nest of colony is usually some way from where the activity is seen but it is highly unusual for anyone to find it. Trying to kill off the queen is what these experts aim to do but, if she cannot be found, then it is time to try something just a little different.
Sinking permanent feeding tubes into the ground all round the house, much like the same idea of the trench, gives the experts the access that they need to keep on treating this infestation for many years to come. The poisoned bait will eventually be carried back to the queen and she will die. This marks the end of this particular colony. Since the discreet tubes are left in situ permanently, it is just a matter of re-baiting when activity is seen so no more disruption to household routines is necessary.
